Wine Wednesday ~ Wines of the Southern Hemisphere by Marty Cook
As we begin to wrap up our winter season in the Northern Hemisphere, our neighbors in the Southern Hemisphere are entering their harvest season! It is winemaking time every six months in the world, depending on which half of the globe you inhabit. Just imagine chasing the harvest every six months! Now, that is something to add to the bucket list!
For the time being, I must be content with administering to my responsibilities here in the north, and many of you are probably in the same boat. But, that does not stop us from enjoying the fruits of the Southern Hemisphere wine growers!
So for next week’s Wine Wednesday, bring a bottle of wine from “down under” to celebrate the 2021 Southern Hemisphere harvest! That leaves it wide open for you to decide, i.e. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and South America (Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil). All grape varieties are fair game!
Also, please take a photo of your wine label in advance and send a copy to WineCat@pa.net. We will share label photos to the screen on Wednesday evening.
