SUMMARY:Wine Wednesday ~ Burgundy Whites and Reds
DESCRIPTION:———-by Marty Cook———- \nBurgundy. Thought of as a color. Also synonymous with a wine. Burgundy is\, first and foremost\, a place. Located in France\, Burgundy is arguably the most significant wine-growing region in the world. Renowned for its highly prized red wines made primarily from Pinot Noir\, Burgundy (the place) also encompasses a region in its southern tip known as Beaujolais where red wines are made from the Gamay grape. And\, Burgundy is equally as renowned for its incredible white wines made principally from the Chardonnay grape\, although the “other” lesser-known but cold-hearty white grape (Aligoté) is also employed by Burgundians to make a light\, citrusy white wine. \nThis event\, scheduled for this coming Wednesday\, July 7th at 7:00 p.m.\, is not meant to be an in-depth study of the wines of Burgundy. That would require an entire course spanning many hours of exploration. Rather\, this program is meant for its participants to experience a little bit of Burgundy and some of its many wines as represented by the many places within the Burgundy region where perhaps the best wines the world knows are produced. \nPlease secure a bottle of your choosing of either a Burgundian red or white (or\, both if you must!) and join us on Wednesday\, July 7th at 7:00 p.m. to explore\, discuss\, and share what you have learned in your exploration of the Burgundy region! \nAnd\, just a reminder to shoot a photo of the front and back labels of your bottle and send as e-mail attachments please by 11 p.m.\, Tuesday\, July 6th\, to WineCat@pa.net for inclusion in our PowerPoint slide show for this coming Wednesday evening.
